Absurdities #3

Given that the Confederacy was antithetical to the entire notion of the United States of America — they went to war against the U.S., remember? — how can anyone in their right mind fly both flags on one pole at the same time? This is patently ludicrous. Which side are they on? It can’t be both.

Every time I see a Confederate flag, I can only think one thing: Why is someone advertising, “I’m a loser!”

  1. Yep and yep. Here in the land of conservatives I see both flags at the same time, too. Makes no sense from a logical historical perspective. But as an example of cognitive dissonance, it’s fascinating to contemplate what goes on inside these people’s minds.

  2. I completely agree. Though I never have, I often have a strong urge to ask these people questions about where their family served in that war. I have a suspicion that the Confederate flag wavers don’t know or have no Rebs in their family tree.
