Wow, how exciting! We visited an old gold mine in Amador County, CA and the tour left me with a lot of questions about the exploitation of the (mostly immigrate) workers.

Thank you, Janis. The mines in Amador county were big corporate beasts. That was more common later in the rush and later in the century. Still, miners came from around the world and were terribly discriminated against, even when segregated in their own ethnic mining camps.
