By Eilene Lyon (of course)
I normally keep all my book-promotion-related material on my author website. But I do have some news to share. I hope (ahem) that you won’t be terribly put out.
My first book, Fortune’s Frenzy, was a finalist for a Spur Award from the Western Writers of America. It has also received a Will Rogers Medallion. The ranking of the four books in my category of Western Nonfiction will be announced in October.
My second book, What Lies Beneath Colorado Pioneer Cemeteries and Graveyards, is scheduled for release in early September. Even though this title is very specific to Colorado, I think you’ll find the history lively and entertaining. I certainly learned a lot about my home state in the process of writing it.
I’ll be sharing some material from What Lies Beneath (that didn’t make the final cut) here on Myricopia soon.
If you happen to be in the Denver area on October 18th, I will be at The Tattered Cover on Colfax to promote both books at 6 p.m. I’d love to see you there!
That’s wonderful Eileen! It’s certainly something to celebrate!! 📚🏅🥂 “What Lies Beneath Colorado” sounds interesting to me.

Just London, then to Paris for a day and bike/barge tour from there to Bruges.

What should we not miss in London? I’ve never been.

Oh dear, I am not the person to ask! Not an expert, and infrequent visits are usually centred on family / friend meet-ups. Also, I tend to go for the small things not the big ticket ones like the British Museum, Tate, V&A etc – I get a book of walks and see what I can find to interest me from that. My impression is there is something for everyone though!

I don’t necessarily go for the big stuff either. We’re both rather crowd averse. Nice parks, good food, an obscure museum…

Ah, we would definitely get on well visiting together! You might find something in my London tag. Still to write up the Canal Museum and Hampton Court from last year. I’ll get round to it eventually! Will actually be there on Sunday, on our way from something else – to meet up with my sister though, so unlikely to be any new sites added.

Congrats all around Eilene! I’m specifically going to mention the new book to the youngest. She loves historical info plus I wonder if she’s familiar with any of the places you include in the book. I bet she will be!

Thanks, Deb! I did my best to make it a good read and not just a string of facts. Has lots of photos, too.

Thank you, Judy. I do look forward to the trip. My Sept and Oct are starting to look a bit of a whirlwind, but the bike tour will be a nice pace.

Haha. For the longest time, I intentionally held off reading it because anticipation is part of the fun to me. I like looking forward to a good book! And then it became more of a lazy slob problem because I was busy at work and too tired to read anything deeper than Dr Seuss.
